Silvervine (Actinidia polygama, also known by its Japanese name matatabi) is not toxic to cats. Like catnip, it contains compounds that trigger a euphoric response in many cats — rolling, rubbing, drooling, and vocalizing — usually lasting 10-15 minutes. Some cats respond to silvervine even when they don't respond to catnip, since the response depends on genetics. It's widely sold as a cat toy or treat additive and is considered safe for occasional recreational use.
