Currants (Ribes species) are botanically unrelated to grapes, but they're often grouped with grapes and raisins as a precaution, since the mechanism behind grape/raisin toxicity still isn't fully understood and some pet-safety sources extend the same caution to currants. Documented poisoning cases in cats specifically are rare to nonexistent — most of the concern is extrapolated from dog cases and general dried-fruit caution rather than confirmed feline toxicology.
