FDA has investigated a signal between some grain-free, legume-heavy diets and dilated cardiomyopathy, mostly in dogs; cats have been discussed with much less certainty. Peas and lentils are not acute toxins. This page will not tell you that grain-free food is “toxic” or that grains are required.
