Cats need small amounts of sodium in their diet, but excess salt causes sodium ion poisoning. This can happen from eating salty snacks, rock salt, ocean water, or homemade play-dough. Even small amounts are dangerous for cats due to their small body size. Always provide fresh water.

  • seizures

What to do

If your cat ate very salty food, offer water in small amounts and contact your vet. Severe cases require IV fluid therapy.
